Dear Lindblom Students/Parents
It's that time again. Time for Summer Golf....
Golf is considered by many to be the Social Networking Sport. Golf is a great outdoor sport that can expose you to people, places, and opportunities that you may never have imagined. All within a safe, peaceful, and fun, yet challenging environment. Golf being a non-contact sport, injuries occur far less frequently.
Whether you’ve considered golf, but didn't know how to get started or are just looking for something fun to do this summer, this is for you! I have attached a few slides that discuss why you should consider golf. Take a look and if you are interested, I have provided a few options that will allow you to get started with golf.
Here are four ways that you can get started with golf right now:
-
Summer Golf Camp (FREE!) - I personally offer Lindblom students/staff an opportunity to learn, practice, and begin to develop their golf game before participating competitively in the sport. This is the perfect opportunity for those with no or little golf experience to try out the sport before committing to golf as a team sport. Sessions are conducted Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM until approximately 8:00 PM beginning Monday, June 30, 2025 through Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the South Shore Golf Training Center (located behind the South Shore Cultural Center). Repairs to this facility are currently in progress, but should be completed by June 30th. If there are delays to the scheduled reopening of the facility you will be notified via email. Don't have your own clubs, don't worry! Clubs will be provided for students/staff that sign-up and indicate that clubs are needed. Students Sign up HERE!!! (Due to limited capacity participation will be on a first come first come basis). Staff - Just email me and let me know that you are interested and if you need clubs.
-
Lessons with A Golf Professional - I have made arrangements with Harry Giliam (Golf Pro) and he will provide lessons for kids (ages 9 -18) on Saturdays throughout most of the Summer & Fall (Cost $200/year) at the Burnham Woods Golf Course (June - October). Upcoming lessons will begin Saturday, June 26, 2025 and run through early October (depending on weather conditions) at Burnham Woods Golf Course, 14201 S Burnham Avenue Burnham, IL 60633. Lessons will begin at 1:00 PM, ending at 3:30 PM (Contact Harry Gilliam 312-286-4664)

Current Lindblom Golf Team Members should also consider joining the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) and competing in some of their tournaments in preparation for the 2025 Fall Golf Season. Participation in the IJGA/MAJGT tournaments also provides students additional visibility to college recruiters. I will also be scheduling a few Friday Golf Outings for our team to get some on course practice, either at the South Shore of Marquette Park Course prior to the season.
If you have additional questions you can email me or if you would like to discuss any of these opportunities I can schedule a time to speak with you and your parent(s) over the phone.
