How do I support my child?
How can I help my child improve?
- Encourage your child to talk with the teacher to get additional feedback and to develop a plan to improve.
- Have a conversation with your child to discuss the feedback from their teacher and help them identify where the gap in their knowledge/skill may lie.
- Work with your child to help them decide which Performance Indicators in which courses should have the highest priority based on the areas in which they most need to improve.
- Encourage your child to revise assignments to increase their skill/knowledge level and their score.
- Encourage your child to take advantage of:
-
- Revision/Retake opportunities
- Flex Support for the course
- Teacher tutoring
- The Writing Center
Revision/Retake Policy
PBL is designed to encourage and support student growth and improvement. Sometimes a student will receive a low score, indicating they have not yet mastered the Performance Indicator being assessed. The student then has the opportunity to try again and hopefully demonstrate an improved mastery of that skill, resulting in a higher score. All students have access to revisions/retakes.
- Revisions are available for at least 2 weeks except for the final exam/project of the semester.
- Teachers may require students to attend tutoring or seek additional help/practice before attempting revision. This is because they want to ensure that students have an opportunity to learn or practice more before re-attempting.
- The revision/retake may take a different form than the original assignment.
